About Us
Jeff and Cindy Monroe began the FIRE RESCUE HELP GROUP in January, 2005. Jeff's love for the Fire Service and their committment to their community has created an opportunity for them to tap their years of experience and expertise in order to offer professional services to small, rural fire departments and municipalies.
How We Got Started
For the first few years of the Assistance to Firefighter Program, Jeff, while working as a fire chief, wrote grants for his fire department and helped others in our county fire association write their grants. He had a 100% success rate.
As the years went by, he was being asked by more and more departments, outside of our area to write their grants.
As we watched departments receive grants, we saw them struggle with the purchasing/procurement process for their equipment and have difficulty managing their grant (reports, closeout, etc) and not always understand compliance with the grant.
After looking at the situation, we decided we would offer our services, for a fee. However, it would not just be as a grant writer, but as a complete project manager. We would work with the department from the development of the project phase until the grant would be closed out. Not knowing if departments would actually contract for this service, Jeff made a few department and fire association visits, and the rest is history.
We had more departments than we ever expected request our services. We found there to be a void for small, rural fire departments for professional services. We found that most grant writing and professional engineers, marketers, etc. had no interest in offering services beyond writing the grant, nor did they have the expertise.
Our success with the AFG projects has led to the offering of other services such as: ISO Consulting; Procurement Process Coordination; Equipment Specifications Development; RFP Development, Management, and Vendor Coordination; RFP Evaluations; NFIRS Reporting; and Fire Service Training.
We have been blessed beyond measure and are humbled when a department contracts our services. We never take for granted that the funds they use to pay us with are hard earned (we've sold a few chicken dinners ourselves). We always strive to make sure they get their money's worth. We do not have a magic formula or any inside track. We just try to put together the best project for our client as possible and tell thier story. If they are awarded a grant, we are diligent in helping them get the most equipment for their money, and comply with all of the requirements in the grant guidance.
Our hearts desire is that we can help a community and the people who serve there be a little safer because we helped a fire department or town get a grant for a new truck or PPE, or lower an ISO rating, or, ..........well you get the picture.
We have met some of the nicest people in the departments we serve. That alone has been a blessing.
We believe whatever we do is only because God has allowed us to develop our skills to share with others. We honor Him by utilizing those skills to help our friends and neighbors.
We look forward to 2008 and the opportunities it will bring.
