Services - ISO Consulting
An ISO review is very intense for a department. Preparation, prior to having an ISO Field Representative conduct an engineering study is essential to a successful review. In many cases, this pre-work can add points to the score necessary to lower your community classification. The worst case scenario for a department is to be unprepared for the engineering study.
The Fire Rescue Help Group can help you be better prepared for the department's grading process from an ISO Field Representative. All of our consulting services are based upon the current edition of ISO's Public Protection Classification information http://www.iso.com/products/2400/prod2403.html. This review will be based upon our experience of the review process as well as resource documentation available to conduct the assessment. We do not guarantee a lower ISO rating because of our review; however we do guarantee you will be better prepared and expect no surprises during the grading process by the ISO Field Representative.
Our basic/minimum services include:
- Conduct a complete department records review (training records, maps, hose records, hydrants records, etc.) at my office, and determine any deficiencies that exist.
- Using an ISO batch report, conduct on-site available water flow studies for your public water system based upon the five highest needed fire flow buildings. All results will be reported to the department as well as supporting documentation.
- Conduct a review of the department's communication system and water system to identify issues prior to the survey.
A final report and debriefing noting all apparent issues, deficiencies, and recommendations/suggestions for corrective actions will be provided to the department.
Additionally, we can provide the following services:
- Hose Testing
- Hydrant Testing
- Pumper Testing
- Technical expertise on the department's behalf during the actual ISO Field Representative visit
